What is 3D Sound by Arkamys?
3DSound by Arkamys is an audio processing software program designed to spatialise sound, in other words adapt volume so that the listener thinks the sound is originating from several sources. Unlike the 5.1 systems, 3D Sound by Arkamys does not require additional speakers to recreate the spatialisation effect, two speakers will suffice. To achieve this effect, 3D Sound reproduces the time lag and difference in sound intensity between the listener’s right and left ears, in other words the parameters the human ear requires to perceive sound in three dimensions.
Nor does 3D Sound need any special decoder or processing of the music source, since it is directly integrated into the equipment. In a car, 3D sound is located on the car radio’s DSP circuit. Such is the case with the Mégane III, the first vehicle to be series-equipped with this system.
Finally, unlike other on-board audio spatialisation systems (SRS, Qsound…), 3D Sound by Arkamys is specially configured on each type of vehicle by ‘Golden Ears’ (sound engineers and acousticians).
